Tickets

The University-wide Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony requires guest tickets.

The University of Pittsburgh utilizes Ticketmaster for ceremony tickets. Entrance is a completely digital process and requires a smart device. If your guests are entering together, all tickets may be on one device.

Guest Tickets Overview

  • Graduates may request up to eight (8) guest tickets for commencement at Acrisure Stadium.
  • Please request only the number of tickets you plan to use.
  • There is no cost for guest tickets for the spring University‑wide Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony.
  • Graduating students do not need a ticket—they will use their printed Name Announcement Card to enter.
  • Guests 2 years old and under do not require a ticket and are considered lap guests.

Receiving Tickets

  • Candidates must successfully register for the university-wide commencement ceremony to receive tickets.
  • Registration is through a digital invitation from the Office of Special Events (commencement@pitt.edu) and must be completed before 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 9.

How to Claim Tickets

  • Graduates will receive an email to their Pitt account—including instructions, a private link, and a one‑time‑use code—during the week of April 20.
  • All tickets must be claimed in one transaction; once the code is used, it becomes invalid and portal access is closed.
  • After entering the code, graduates should confirm the correct number of tickets before completing checkout.

Additional Ticket Availability

  • All tickets must be claimed by April 29. Any tickets NOT claimed by April 29 will be returned to the Office of Special Events.
  • There is no guarantee that additional tickets will become available. If extra tickets are available, announcements will be shared on @pittcommencement and the Commencement website. We encourage you to follow and check periodically.

Troubleshooting Tips for the Ticket Portal

If you experience issues accessing the portal, try the following:

  • Log out of your Ticketmaster account.
  • Clear cookies or use a private/incognito browser.
  • If connected to campus Wi‑Fi, switch to a mobile device using LTE.
  • Log back in to Ticketmaster.
  • If you see a message that tickets are “sold out,” it means the system is overloaded—try again later; tickets never actually sell out.

If issues continue, take a screenshot and email commencement@pitt.edu for assistance. The Office of Special Events is available for support through April 30 at noon.
